Sick, sick, sick

We are normally blessed to be a healthy household. None of us get sick very often. But man, I tell ya, this winter has been brutal. Before Christmas we had colds and pink eye make the rounds. Then for much of January and February we all had colds. The kids had colds with coughs that lingered for weeks. I had a cold that after two weeks turned into a sinus/throat infection requiring antibiotics. Even Mike, who rarely gets sick, had this cold. Then we were better.

Then we weren't. Kyle woke up during the night Tuesday night throwing up. It kept up non-stop through yesterday morning, then he was able to nap around noon and woke up a new boy. I even got in on the action, but am still not sure if it was puke by association, or puke in the first degree. Today he was back to normal. Here was Kyle couching it yesterday, with his buddy. :)

This morning our day started out well. Everyone felt well. Everyone felt happy. Erin wore two pig tails for the first time ever. :)

The day continued to go well. The kids ate dinner, took baths, and hit the sack. Erin fussed a bit. Then started CRYING. Mike when to check her and she had exploded everything she'd eaten for what looked like days. Now, four hours later, she is sleeping fitfully on the couch. She's got nothing left in her, but her stomach keeps trying to get more out. The poor, poor girl.

I am hoping her bug is as short lived as Kyle's was. She's never thrown up before, so she doesn't understand and screams when I try and get her to use the bucket.

*sigh.* We're ready to be well.

Going to the dogs party

This morning we had a dog party at our house. Awhile back Kyle said he wanted to have a party, and the only birthday coming up was Mulligan's. (Happy sixth birthday Mulligan!!) We decided to invite all the kids friends and their parents, and make fleece dog toys for the Humane Society. I got the idea from my friend Stacy.

In addition to making toys, we served hot dogs, bone shaped cookies and Jello jigglers, and puppy chow. (Okay, and some mimosas and beer for the adults!)

After we were through we took all the toys to the Humane Society. The kids really had a great time!!

Ice Breaker 2010

Earlier this month South Haven held it's annual Ice Breaker festival. This is always a fun weekend, and the weather was perfect. Sunny, not too windy, but cold enough for those making ice sculptures.

In addition to all the ice sculptures to see downtown, there were also plenty of kids activities. We started off at the library for the Penguin Picnic, which was a big hit for both kids. My nephew Jack also had a great time. We then walked around downtown to see the sculptures. The kids' friends Romy and Sasha also walked with us. After that we hit the art center for crafts. Finally, on the way back to the car we checked out the skating show at the ice rink.

It was a great day!!!

Snow much fun...

We've had lots of fun in the snow so far this year, because we've had no short supply of it. We even got three feet over the course of a weekend last month. And it is snowing as I type this. To me it seems neverending, to Kyle it is amazing! He has enjoyed it more than Erin because I will let him play in the side yard when we get home from school; I can see him from the window while I make lunch. Some of the pictures are from our friends' house, the Pages, where we sledded in their yard. Sydney is about the same age as Kyle, and Erin is about the same age as Max.

Here are some pictures of the kids enjoying the fluffy white stuff.
