Movie Monday

Today is Movie Monday for two reasons. The first is they began filming "What's Wrong with Virginia?" today in South Haven. It stars Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly and Amy Madigan. We drove down to the beach this morning to watch a bit of the filming. We checked about extras, and while we could get in it would require a full day commitment and wearing summer clothes. I really was interested in the kids being able to do it, so I don't think that it too kid friendly and we'll skip it. Here's a pic from this morning:
The other reason it is Movie Monday is I'm sharing some clips of the kids. They are from last month, and rolled into one short 2-1/2 minute video. Enjoy!

Flashback: Colleen and Megan visit

My great friend Colleen and her daughter Megan visited us from Long Island, NY back in, huh-hum, well, in August. My lack in getting a blog post up until now is no reflection on the fabulous time we had, but more on my being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of pictures I needed to narrow from. And my laziness with my blog lately... sorry folks. So here, nearly two months later, is my post of our time with them and a slide show of pictures.

Colleen and Megan arrived late afternoon on Sunday, August 23. Kyle and I picked them up in South Bend and brought them to South Haven, where we enjoyed pizza at the Vineyard. Following pizza we drove them around a bit, then stopped at a great park we have for the kids to play. As the sun began to set over the lake we walked down the steps to the beach (the park is on top of the bluff) to watch. We watched a beautiful sunset and the kids had fun running along the shore and playing in the water. (Yes, Kyle swam in his clothes!)

Monday we hit Deerlick Park Beach. Monday night Mike watched all three kids while Colleen and I got to have a girls night out with some of my friends. Tuesday we went out for breakfast before hitting the Binder Park Zoo.

Wednesday was a rainy day. We enjoyed playing at home, then McDonald's for lunch. It cleared up in the afternoon so we walked around downtown.

Thursday we drove into St. Joseph and went to the Curious Kids Museum. The kids had a great time! We went to lunch at the Pump House (thank you, Mom!!) and then walked around all the animals in the downtown St. Joe area. After that we sadly took Colleen and Megan back to the airport.

We had such a good time with them! Kyle talked about visiting Megan in New York for weeks afterward. Including walking past me with bags and saying, "Bye, I'm going to the airport." When I would ask where he was going it was always to Megan's.

Here is a slide show of many of the pictures from the visit. They are in order, but "start over" again toward the end because I have added some of Colleen's pictures as well. It takes about eight minutes, so settle in. (Somehow it was five, then I went to post it and it was eight. So you get three extra minutes,) ;-)

Who is Erin?

  • Erin is a sweet girl who almost always has a smile on her face, and if she doesn't you can easily convince her to give you one.

  • Erin is a girl who is discovering what she wants and how to get it. She has an angry face and yell now when she is not getting her way, but she is still adorable when she does it. She is a girl whose personality is shining through.

  • Erin is a girl who loves pillows. She will take pillows from the bed or couch and carry them around, often putting one down and then doing a full body flop onto it.

  • Erin is a girl who is obsessed with her belly button.

  • Erin is a girl who is inquisitive and curious. She gets into more cupboards, closets, etc. than I think Kyle did.

  • Erin is a girl who loves to take things out and put them away... whether it be toys or items in the laundry basket.

  • Erin is a girl who loves to sit down on things that are just her level... steps, small chairs, etc. She does a backward walk to it, then sits.

  • Erin is a girl who hates to have her toes in the sand.

  • Erin is a girl who loves to wave. She even waves at you when she knows she is being naughty... looks right at you with a little smirk and waves.

  • Erin is a girl who hugs you with two hands and pats your back with each of them.

  • Erin is a girl who loves hats. We have a bin with hats and she will get them all out trying on different hats of hers and Kyle's.

  • Erin is a girl who will try most any food you give her, and likes most of them.

  • Erin is a girl who is obsessed with fruit snacks. If you leave the pantry door unhooked she will undoubtedly bring you a little bag of them.

  • Erin is a girl who will back into your lap with a book in her hand. She loves books.

  • Erin is a girl who likes to pick her nose.

  • Erin is a girl who is working on going from two naps to one. And with our schedule she often only gets one anyway!

  • Erin is a girl who will play quietly in her crib when she first wakes up.

  • Erin is a girl who rough houses with her brother, but is also a girly girl who loves up her dolls and stuffed animals.

  • Erin is a girl who can point to many of her body parts when you ask her where they are.

  • Erin is a girl who nods yes, shakes her head no, and points... making her needs and wants pretty easy to figure out.

  • Erin is a girl who has captured our hearts and filled them with love.
